چکیده
Woolley (1) has prepared a number of ethers of N-acetyl-3,5-diiodotyrosine and found them to interfere with various effects of thyroxine on amphibian larvae. Some of Woolley’s observations were confirmed and extended by Winder and Frieden (2) and by Williams et al. (3). It is the purpose of this report to investigate the competitive nature of several thyroxine inhibitors and to determine the structural requirements for and the specificity of the inhibition of thyroxine and its active analogues,

متن کاملTHE THYROXINE-LIKE ACTIVITY OF COMPOUNDS STRUCTURALLY RELATED TO THYROXINE* BY EARL FRIEDENt
In the course of a search for compounds which might prove to be competitive inhibitors of thyroxine in its action on the peripheral tissues, we have initiated a study of the relationship between chemical structure and thyroxine-like activity of a number of thyroxine analogues. Early attempts to relate chemical constitution to physiological activity have been summarized by Harington (1, 2) who c...

متن کاملIdentification of New Agonists and Antagonists of the Insect Odorant Receptor Co-Receptor Subunit
BACKGROUND Insects detect attractive and aversive chemicals using several families of chemosensory receptors, including the OR family of olfactory receptors, making these receptors appealing targets for the control of insects. Insect ORs are odorant-gated ion channels, comprised of at least one common subunit (the odorant receptor co-receptor subunit, Orco) and at least one variable odorant spe...
متن کاملCommentary Allosteric Antagonists of the Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor
Muscarinic acetylcholine receptors belong to a superfamily of structurally related proteins which possess seven transmembrane spanning regions and couple to G-proteins [1-4]. Thus far, five distinct muscarinic receptor subtypes (designated ml-m5) are known to exist based on recent molecular cloning studies [2, 5, 6]. Earlier knowledge of muscarinic receptor heterogeneity was based on binding an...
